Welcome to the Orchard Street Gallery blog, with artist interviews, artworld news and more from the gallery and beyond.
Fresh works
Our current show ‘Bob Withers Frustrated Architect’ has been extended due to gallery closure during the week of the Curraweela fire.
Make sure you see these small sculptures and large drawings before they come down. The highly affordable 3D artworks could make for an impressive curiosity on your bookshelf, windowsill or side table.
Many works have sold, however those pictured are waiting for their new homes.
Gallery Update
The Orchard Street Gallery is not yet one year old but is already gathering momentum thanks to our supporters and creative community. We are excited to be in discussions with various artists who are considering using our space to expand their practices and exhibit their work. Over the next few months, the gallery space will have a diverse range of works from multiple artists including graphic novel-style imagery, fibre art, etchings, woodcuts, screen prints, wire sculptures, kinetic art and landscape paintings.

New Exhibition: Anthea da Silva’s exhibition entitled ‘For the Love of Snow Gums and Scribblys’.
Orchard Street Gallery is proud to announce Anthea da Silva’s exhibition entitled ‘For the Love of Snow Gums and Scribblys’ October 14th – 30th 2022
These works are da Silva’s homage to the environment she imagines the Njunawal and Gundungurra people have celebrated here for aeons.
The show will open formally on Saturday 22nd October at 12 midday. All welcome!
Here we go with the Corbally-Stourton Collection Part 2
Yesterday we installed Part II, with the beautiful abstract paintings of Geoffrey de Groen, and the smaller First Nations works. These De Groen works play with light and shade in lusciously applied colour, implying dreamscapes and the shadowy recesses of imagination.
Also featuring on the walls of Orchard Street Gallery are the affordable and collectible smaller works from the Western Desert. These unframed works have already started to sell, so drop in over the weekend and pick up a little jewel for your wall before they all get snatched up.
September workshop program
Orchard Street Gallery is proud to announce multiple workshops this month, including, for the first time, independent educators offering their skills to others through our gallery space. The thread that connects us is Southern Tablelands Arts, who have been so supportive of our little gallery in the west. Thank you STA!
Also, as part of our own monthly workshop program, Jo is on a mission to encourage all those who say “I wish I could draw” by teaching them that… Yes, you CAN draw!
